Malasana (garland pose) is the one yoga pose I couldn’t live without, here’s why:
1. Malasana mimics a natural resting position for humans, especially in countries in the east where chairs were not common until recently. I feel at home in this pose and choose to sit like this on chairs, on the toilet (lol) and just while resting in general, maybe I was born in the wrong part of the world? 🌻
2. This pose is a deep hip opener and gives me a deep release by opening my hips in a powerful and satisfying way 🌻
3. It’s the posture of digestive magic! Malasana stimulates the digestive organs and gets things moving, seriously, try elevating your feet on a stool next time you go number 2 and feel the difference! 🌻
4. It makes me feel grounded. This pose is super grounding, I really feel a strong connection to my root chakra (Muladhara) as I am so close to the ground and stable/supported through my legs. Grounding and working with the earth element is super important for me as I have a lot of the element of air which can result in me becoming easily flustered 🌻
5. This pose is also symmetrical and has an “inward compression” effect which helps me to feel centered, physically and energetically 🌻
